FFE Ltd have been a long standing customer of Barton Jones for over 10 years, for many years the supply was mainly for off the shelf packaging items. Last year with the announcement of our move into manufacturing we were given the opportunity to tender for the bespoke corrugated supply items.
The main issue was lack of space, packaging materials were covering a whole mezzanine floor area. Our first challenge was to eliminate this by offering stock holding at our site while drip feeding in daily deliveries. This allowed FFE to store more of the components they needed to produce manufactured items rather than hold packaging.
We worked alongside FFE to introduce a KANBAN call off system to ensure deliveries were met and their assembly department always had the correct amount of stock required to fulfil the works orders for that day.
With the manufacturing we were also able to deliver on a JIT basis to ensure all key lines never fell below monthly stock levels. We have continued to develop designs for new products while offering a second to none service and deliver a cost saving to the customer.
